I spent July 3 – 6 at the Shire lending a hand with an Art of Hosting there – 60+ people made the trek to Carleton, NS. Throughout the three days, I couldn’t stop thinking about hosting vs acting… I think it is an important distinction. It has been my experience that the best hosting generally happens when you stop concerning yourself with sounding profound and speaking in metaphors. Just hold the space and get out of the way. And I think it is much easier to do this when hosting is the way you are, not just something you do. It can’t be an act.
On another note, blogging has been light. No good excuse other than the Nova Scotian summer may have finally arrived. Also, I should let you know that I’m speaking this Tuesday at “the student edge” conference here in Halifax – a national conference for student leaders. Should be fun.
