When we gathered together in April to begin mapping out the evolution of Colour, it was a time filled with both uncertainty and promise. I think many new explorations tend to start with that mixture of feelings. The promise of what could be coupled with the uncertainty about ‘giving up’ something that was never authentically yours anyway.
I’m learning that there is a remarkable, magnetic energy brought about by clarity of purpose. We’re only beginning to see this as an organization, I think.
The project I’m immersed in this morning is further evidence of the power of this clarity. We have been engaged to undertake an ambitious Closer to the Customer process in service of a brand examination that takes us to four cities over the coming two weeks – Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Boston – hosting Circle Conversations and Closer Conversations with over 120 people. It is incredibly exciting work.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been trying to put some words around where we’re finding ourselves as an organization. Below is my crack at it right now. I’ve wrote it mostly as a bit of a manifesto for Colour – one that doesn’t seek to answer all the questions one could have about what we’re up to, but rather it serves to frame our general world view about the work we do. Any feedback is welcome – as always.
Conversations matter.
Call us stakeholders, customers, clients, suppliers, ministers, CEOs, journalists, employees… whatever title we assume in this world, we’re human beings first and always.
Human beings together in conversation change the world. In conversation, human beings connect. They listen. They understand. They share. And they enter into relevant relationships delivering what matters to each other. They co-create brilliance.
At Colour, our purpose is to ignite conversations that create meaningful relationships.
Meaningful relationships between you, your organization, your brand, those you serve, and the world we all share.
We do this by seeing every strategy, every marketing execution, and every PR tactic as an element in a larger conversation that is taking place in your markets.
We do this by honouring everyone’s individual creativity, curiosity and voice in conversations that matter.
We do this by getting closer to people – customers, stakeholders, citizens – everyone. We do this because silence is not an option. And communication not done in conversation is simply interruption.
And we do this from Atlantic Canada. A culture and land deeply rooted in conversation – a region that at its best possesses a remarkable humanity. We can do this work anywhere in world, but we can only do it from here.
Welcome to the conversation. We’re honoured you’re here.
Carman, I like the colour on your site. Although I'm not into or need a PR or marketing service yet, design is where I find myself communicating with your site. Good luck with your ventures.
